Memorial Biography

Legendary NFL quarterback Ken Stabler has passed away in Gulf port, Mississippi.Stabler was a native of Foley, Alabama and he went on to play for the legendary Bear Bryant at the University of Alabama. He led the Crimson Tide to an undefeated season in 1966 was an All-American in 1967. He played in the NFL including ten seasons with the Oakland Raiders where he was nicknamed "The Snake." He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection and was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 1974, when he led the league in touchdown passes with 26. He led the Raiders to a Super Bowl victory in 1977. In his professional career, Stabler threw for 27,938 yards, 194 touchdowns and 88 interceptions. Following his NFL career, Stabler worked as a color commentator for CBS NFL telecasts and also called Alabama games on the radio until 2009.
